Everyone here at MekTek hopes that everyone out there has a safe and happy holidays. This Christmas holiday is especially special for myself and my fiancee Jen as we decided to get married this month and we'll be joined by some very close friends from MekTek as well. To everyone out there, please take care. And here's looking forward to the New Year. Keeping positive helps our community prosper. Last holiday season the community had no idea that a new Mechwarrior title was to be announced, the Mechwarrior4 Free release, release of two very successful public betas here at MekTek, word of releases planned from MWLL and BMH very soon. Overall, 2009 has been great to many of us, even when the economy faltered and many of us fell on hard times. So here's to the New Year folks. 2010 could just be the year Mechwarrior is reborn and MekTek will be smack right in the middle of it.
MWLL Public Beta Soon

Posted by Vam, Thursday, 03 December 2009 00:43 Comments(0), Read all
Word comes to me today that MWLL is preparing to bring their mod to the public. Leader of the Crysis mod team made a statement on their forums regarding the status of the mod indicating that something is in the works soon. It is great to see some of these pieces of work finally being released by the community. We wish MWLL the best in their release.

Here's exactly what Criminal had to say:

Beta is coming VERY VERY soon guys Smiley the game is great, assets are looking sexy and gameplay is fun! So now we just finalize some small things and then we will open the floodgates

BMH Timer

Posted by Vam, Wednesday, 02 December 2009 15:33 Comments(0), Read all
Has anyone else noticed that BMH has a timer running on their website? Nice touch guys. Reminds me of MekTek. Anyways, according to DarkOne, the leader of BMH, there is an awesome new mod coming to the Mechwarrior community. Check out BMHand keep a watch on that timer.

Heres what DarkOne had to say specifically.

If you havent already noticed there is a countdown timer running over at www.battlemechhanger.com when it reaches 00:00:00:00 the download servers will open up ,and the 2.7 gig BMH Client file will come available for download. I have spent most of the summer working alone, and with Alenwrench, our new friend, and animator. Working side by side betwen his home and my home we have managed to get the project ready for our first release. Also I want to thank NYFUREX, Inc. , NY,NY,10001 for donating to the BMH project Four , 64 Slot, AMD Quad-Core Powered Servers, and they will come on line on the 15th of this month. They will be hosted by BMH Studios on Static IP's on a T-3 network that was donated to us also by NYFUREX, Inc. NY,NY,10001. The servers will be housed in NYFUREX's New York City Home Office on west 30th street in New York City , NY, USA. There should be more than enough bandwidth since the BMH Servers are the ONLY THING on this T-3 network.

I want to thank all of you for your Support

MekTek Gets Clustered

Posted by Vam, Monday, 23 November 2009 23:05 Comments(0), Read all
You may have noticed that MekTek.net has been up and down over the past couple of hours. This is due to a previous news post where I had indicated that we were performing some server maintenance. As part of this process we have taken MekTek to a level it has never been to before, that is, the virtualized-clustered web environment. Our web server is about 90% high scale availability with a dedicated database server and two dedicated webserver nodes. We are also currently putting the finishing touches on our load balancer in preparation for the free release of Mechwarrior4. Our MekMatch environment now also exists in a clustered environment which we believe will withstand large numbers of active players when the free release is launched. All of these web upgrades at MekTek are happening to ensure that our services stay strong through this momentous release at MekTek. As I said in my previous post, none of this would be possible without the dedicated support expressed of our community. Thanks everyone!

You may experience more downtime over the next 24 hours but it should be short. We apologize for any inconvenience our downtime may have caused you.
Webserver Maintenance

Posted by Vam, Wednesday, 18 November 2009 16:43 Comments(0), Read all
MekTek is performing some web server maintenance over the next 24-48 hours and we do expect some periodic downtime. Please be advised. This downtime may affect some of our services. This maintenance is neccessary to further update our web infrastructure to create a more reliable MekTek for the future. We'd also like to remind the community that without your support we would be unable to offer services to the online community. We are currently short approximately 35% in server donations, so if you are feeling generous, even a small amount, will help MekTek maintain our strong web presence.

Regarding Mechwarrior4 FREE Release Status

Posted by Vam, Thursday, 12 November 2009 17:57 Comments(0), Read all
Regarding Mechwarrior4 FREE Release Status

The Mechwarrior4 FREE release is still currently to be announced. MekTek had hoped to gain permission for the release while visiting Smith and Tinker, Inc. in Seattle this week. However, we have learned that Microsoft has endured several administrative changes which currently impede the release. The good news, however, is that a meeting to finalize the release is scheduled near the American Thanks Giving Holiday. Smith and Tinker said that it will only take 1-2 more days before permission is granted. From MekTek, we are happy to report that the release is ready and awaiting permission to push that big shiny green release button at MekTek headquarters.

MekTek to meet with Mechwarrior Officials - Week of Nov 9th

Posted by Vam, Thursday, 05 November 2009 16:51 Comments(0), Read all

In just a few days, MekTek founders (VAM and WhiteFeather) will be converging on the Vancouver/Seattle areas to meet with both Mechwarrior and BattleTech officials. MekTek's first stop will be in Vancouver to meet with Piranha Games' president Russ Bullock for a friendly discussion about their Mechwarrior endeavors. Following a night in Vancouver, a flight to Seattle, home of the electronic Mechwarrior license holder Smith and Tinker, and its president Jordan Weisman. Here MekTek hopes to finalize the legalities surrounding the free release of Microsoft's Mechwarrior4 that was announced back in July simultaneously with the announcement of the Mechwarrior Reboot. After meeting with Jordan, MekTek plans to meet up with the BattleTech licensees at Catalyst Game Labs, the producers of the BattleTech board game and related novels. Pending success with Smith and Tinker Inc., MekTek will be releasing the free version of Mechwarrior4 shortly there after. Not only has time been a factor in preparing the free release, but monetary resources as well. Studio MekTek Inc. was required to purchase hefty software distribution insurance @ $4500 for the royalty free distribution. Our partners from Catalyst Game Labs and Virtual World Entertainment are helping Studio MekTek Inc. pay for about half of the insurance bill. The trip to Seattle will also exceed $1500, all of which is being paid for by staff out of our own pockets.

In appreciation for our community support, on the free release of Mechwarrior4, we invite members of our community to post one question that you would like MekTek founders to ask regarding the Mechwarrior Reboot. Since Studio MekTek Inc. is under NDA we will openly ask these questions to the official representatives and ask them to please answer any of the questions they are comfortable with. We remind the community that MekTek practices complete disclosure unless otherwise instructed. Note that we will not be asking all of the questions posted but we will cherry pick the best ones for our discussions.

During our visit we will be posting photos taken in Seattle and Vancouver so keep a close eye on the MekTek.net homepage next week! Who knows what you might see!

Please post your questions in this thread. Please note that this is not a formal interview.
