I've heard mekmatch is getting a complete overhaul ?

"Networking and Peripherals
MekMatch Overhaul
Netlobby Update
Removal of 'checking for updates'
Joystick update
Mech ID Issues"

So does that mean we going to have to screw with our wireless routers or routers just get into a server ?

How many times this same topic going up? Patience is a virtue

Oh crapola now i am going to have to convince my mom to let me screw around with the router.
Where can i get complete instructions to do that ?
nano
I don't think the ports are going to change. See the Tech Support section for current instructions.

Why do I have a Whitney Houston song in my head all of a sudden?

I went to the windows firewall in control panel on the computer that has the wireless router and open ports 2300 and 2400. Am i opening the ports for router or the the windows firewall.

PS. I checked the technical support section and it just literally hurt my head i couldn't find anything about how to open the ports, only stuff about what ports to open. My wireless router is connect to a wired router btw.
nano
You're going to want to open the ports on both. For help with your specific router, I would open a thread in the Tech Support section. Though it can't be much tougher than what you did for the firewall.

You need to open the entire range of ports from 2300 thru 2400 for both UDP and TCP traffic.

Wait would that mean 100 ports i would need to open for both UDP and TPC traffic. I would have to do this with the wireless router right (it's a netgear MR814 model) ?

try here :

PortForward.com

getting thru ur firewall is one thing, if u also have to forward ports thru ur router this site has tons of info

im not advertizing it but it helped me do the same thing recently

-basically setup a static ip for your computer if it doesnt have one already
-log into ur router using your web browser
-define the merc ports and forward them thru with new router rules

read abit then find your router on the port forwarding router guides page, then enter the mechwarrior mecenaires section

Good luck biggrin.gif

FOR TWICE THE INTERWEBS

Though, honestly, it's probably part of a home network including comps connected by both Ethernet and wireless. That's the system I've got set up at my place, not really that uncommon.

Most games require you to open ports at some point.

I don't understand what i am doing wrong i open ports 2300 through 2400 and still can't connect to any of the servers. I went to ip address of the router and i went to port forwarding. And i added all the ports i was supposed to

Service Name Start Port End Port Server IP Address
Mechwarrior 4 2300 2400 192.168.0.1

Is 192.168.0.1 the ipaddress of your gaming machine on the network? The address you provide doesn't look like the address of a machine on the LAN.

LAN TCP/IP Setup
IP 192.168.0.1

that's what the ip is set to

but my external ip is 68.82.234.159
