The controller I'm currentlly using is a logitech 3D Pro. I tried using the Logitech Force 3D (force feedback turned off). The problem I have is that I can't seem to get a steady aim with either controller. There always will be a slight movement everytime I get my shot lined up. Very frustrating. How about some feed back and pointers of what the best choices are.

Microsoft SIdewinder rocked, unfortuneately they don't make them any longer.

I still use a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2. Since I don't play like a idiot they tend to last except for the dang trigger button. I have replaced the trigger button twice thus far but it's starting to stick again. I still think it was one of the best ever made and the only real changes I would consider to its design would be to place eight buttons on the base vice four and add to add a shift button under the left thumb near the throttle. They could have arranged the top eight in two rows under the left hand finger tips.
Anyway back to your question. The software driver package my MS joystick runs has a setting that allows the user to adjust a "dead" spot in the middle of its movement range. If your joystick has the same, you could possibly adjust it a bit to keep from shaking your aim. Its a matter of sensitivity.
BTW, every once in a while you can find decent Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2's on ebay. I have bought three that way and 2 of the 3 were in good shape and the third just needed yet another trigger button. BTW this info might be old but I bought the Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 trigger buttons from digikey.com. The part number for the main trigger is EVQP0D07K.

Seconded on the Microsoft Sidewinder (
the first one). I'm still using mine after 6 or 7 years. You could still perhaps find one on eBay or Amazon if they may have them in stock.

I've still got my old sidewinder that I had in my MW2 days. Classic stick. I've also got a Saitek X52, and that's pretty sweet if very pricey.

I have been using a Saitek Cyborg Evo. It's a great stick

Has multiple axes (plus twist and throttle) and a hat button. Cool lights too

The cords contain lead though, so don't suck your fingers or rub your eyes after handling them ;-)

The best part about the Sidewinder Precision Pro is the thumb shift button on the base. I can't believe that more sticks don't utilize that feature. Or why they took it out!

I also vouch for the sidewinder. Very nice joystick, lots of buttons, 4 way hat, throttle bar, good precision twist etc and all for a great price. Its a shame I cant use it any more, my one uses the old joystick pin port instead of USB. For now, I use a logitech attack 3. Not the best by far, but its cheap and good quality, and its two left/right buttons on the top make up for a lack of twist capability. In some cases I find it it more accurate than twisting the stick.
Get yourself a CH Products 568 Combatstick, a Pro Throttle and Pro Foot Pedals. Expensive, but you will have the best mech control simulation you can find along with outstanding quality.

Listen to Nano.
I've got CH Products Combatstick 568 and asking for the pedals/throttle (both of which I have used and found to be excellent quality) that are associated for Christmas in anticipation of the ramping-up of complexity in MP4. CH makes industrial joysticks and other equipment, the quality there definitely transfers over.
If you check Amazon you should be able to get all three for around 300 total.
