I created a split-file installer for both the ENglish and German patchers.
This should be useful for 56kers, or Win98SE users that
are having problems getting their patcher to work:

English version is split into 32 1.44MB files (1,440,000 bytes each):

Are there any specific instructions for this Jehosephat? I have some mates that are still struggling with the pack.
Jehosephat2k
Download each of the files, put them in a temp folder, and then run the .exe.
It should launch the installation for you.

Try this first.

If worse comes to worse, you can go for the Full Download option. In
that, you will download 5 zip files which contain ALL of the patched
and new files, and you unzip them into your Mercs folder, and that
should do it (no patching involved). Of course, the total size of
the download is over 360MB.

Thanks I'm sure that this will work.

Well, it doesn't seem to be installing the version I have, which I got from Mechafiles.com. I had to create a UpdatesCache directory. Though, I noticed the setup is a little different. Theirs had a switcher and 33 files with an . rar extention a 1.38 MB. Any advice?

Sounds like they used a simple file compression/spanning utility known as "Winrar" to create rar'd archieves.

This commonly done when one "rips" a large file (s) into smaller chunks to detour the risk of corruption when passing the files around to other people/servers.

I would suggest downloading our installer since its built using a spanning utility specifically designed for install procedures.

WAHHHHH!

Please explain. How about a few screenshots of the problem?

Other than that, the only thing I can recommend is the Full Download
option for you. Or ditch the Win98 and get Win2k or WinXP.

I'll see if I can find something.

Umm i cant take screenshots, my pc just wont do it for some odd reason...

I will take a Pre version, copy it, and install the patch(pr1). then Mp1. It will not run the game, or install.
I tried the same but used the split, No luck.
Same with the full thing.

Were you using no-cd exes?

full download its says you must add the pr1 patch for them to work .........and the split download has the pr1 patch installed correct?......2n

Jehosephat2k

Why?

Probably closed to deal with the sql hijack that was inflicted on the system. Here are direct links to the files.

As a 56K user, that split download option sure does look intriguing. Is there any chance that the functionality of the links will eventually be restored? wink.gif Also, it looks like you put a lot of effort into making something for the less-well-connected of us, and it would be distressing to see that much dedication be spoiled by some extraneous problem. And in any case -- thank you for going to this trouble for the 56K crowd, we appreciate it!

By the way, I love some of the smileys on this website ----> cwm35.gif cwm3.gif cwm16.gif

The original post is 2 years old, This is for mp1.

Why does the topic title say mp3? and why is a 2 year old thread still pinned? it is creating confusion.
